QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Early Childhood Education, and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Minimum of 2 years of RECE experience, supervisor designate experience an asset
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to support early learning programs reflective of current research, best practices, and inquiry-based learning
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with families, children, colleagues, and external agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team member
  • Sound knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act, How Does Learning Happen? ELECT and the Durham Region Operating Criteria
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Office Center, and Microsoft Outlook

  • To provide support and leadership to the delivery of a curriculum that supports children’s learning and adheres to the philosophy of the organization
  • To adhere to, and role model, all applicable legislation, and regulatory requirements and SPC specific policies and procedures
  • To consistently model professionalism, and establish good working relationships between the organization and the community
  • To develop and maintain positive, supportive, and professional relationships with families while respecting their unique needs
  • To coach, motivate, guide, provide feedback and manage the performance of educators
  • To maintain a physically and emotionally safe workplace through adherence to all health and safety policies and procedures
