Description San Francisco University High School (UHS) is seeking an Assistant Swimming Coach to support a dynamic, student-centered interscholastic program. The assistant coach will work closely with the Head Coach and Athletic Department to develop student-athletes, contribute to a positive team culture, and support competitive success across all levels of the program Position Overview This position works closely with the Co-Head Coaches to foster a positive, competitive, and development-focused team culture aligned with UHS Athletics values. The Assistant Coach plays a key role in athlete instruction, team supervision, and program operations. Requirements Primary Responsibilities Assist with planning and conducting daily practices, including stroke instruction, conditioning, and skill development Support meet preparation and execution, including warm-ups, race strategy, and post-race feedback Supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, and team travel Reinforce team standards related to sportsmanship, accountability, and respect Communicate effectively with student-athletes, coaches, and athletic department staff Assist with administrative duties as needed, including attendance, equipment management, and meet logistics Model professionalism and uphold all University High School and CIF/NCS policies Support a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all student-athletes Qualifications Previous swimming and/or coaching experience preferred Strong understanding of competitive swimming techniques and training principles Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching staff Strong organizational and communication skills Commitment to student-athlete development, both in and out of the pool Availability for afternoon practices, competitions, and occasional weekend events CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to season) Program Values University High School Athletics emphasizes integrity, effort, teamwork, and personal growth. Compensation This is a seasonal, hourly-based position.
