Position Summary The Assistant Tasting Room Manager is a vital operational leader responsible for executing day-to-day front-of-house operations and championing a brand-defining guest experience. In alignment with the Estate Manager’s strategic vision, this role directly manages, develops, and inspires the hospitality team, translating business objectives into memorable, personalized connections that drive wine and wine club sales. As a hands-on floor leader and steward of the estate’s reputation, the ideal candidate is deeply service-driven, team-oriented, and adaptable. They ensure operational standards, inventory controls, and daily logistics are executed with precision, while empowering the team to deliver the highest standards of storytelling, hospitality, and brand excellence. This position has a Thursday through Monday schedule. Team Leadership & Performance Management * Direct responsibility for hiring, training, onboarding, and supervising tasting room hospitality staff. * Create and manage staff schedules to ensure optimal labor-to-traffic ratios, balancing labor costs with service excellence. * Manage time keeping and process bi-weekly payroll/tips and monthly sales incentives with accuracy and on time. * Conduct performance management, provide continuous coaching, deliver recognition, and ensure full compliance with company policies and labor laws. * Lead effective and motivating pre-shift meetings to align the team on daily priorities, service expectations, and safety protocols. * Maintain strict standards of discretion and confidentiality regarding VIP guests, internal metrics, and strategic business data. Tasting Room Operations & Floor Leadership * Ensure FOH/BOH readiness by managing organization of physical spaces, supply ordering, merchandise, wine transfers, in-house shipping logistics, and leading monthly inventory counts. * Proactively optimize guest reservations and waitlist to maximize daily capacity, utilizing guest profiles to ensure seamless service and personalized experiences. * Act as the primary hands-on floor leader during operating hours, directly supporting tasting room experiences, and executing onsite events as needed. * Establish and maintain workflows and daily routines that allow the team to anticipate guest needs, remove operational barriers, and deliver a seamless end-to-end experience. * Proactively identify and address service gaps, determine root causes, and implement sustainable solutions to prevent recurrence. DTC Administration * Execute general DTC administrative tasks to support estate and corporate business operations.  * Maintain and troubleshoot POS, reservation, and IT systems, collaborating directly with IT Team to ensure operational continuity. * Enforce compliance with safe alcohol service standards, food safety, workplace safety protocols, and internal financial controls. Qualifications * Minimum 2 years of prior relevant retail tasting room or consumer direct sales experience required. * Strong leadership, influence, and communication skills, with the ability to present ideas, motivate teams, and interact effectively across all levels. * Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to implement transformative initiatives and drive results. * Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities, with proven success managing multiple projects and deadlines. * Extensive knowledge of luxury products, wine, production processes, and the wine industry. * Professional, engaging, and adaptable demeanor with a positive and creative approach to leadership and hospitality. * Strong customer service orientation and ability to build meaningful guest and team relationships. * Proficiency with CRM and POS systems, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). * Willingness to travel as needed * Flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends based on business demand * Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods.  * Must have a valid California Driver’s License. * Thursday through Monday schedule. The projected base pay range for this position is $69,000 to $75,000 per year in addition to annual bonus and potential quarterly incentive.  This range is the projected compensation for this position, however the actual compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as (but not limited to) candidate qualifications, related experience and education, candidate work location and market data.
