Who You Are As an Assistant Teacher at CAC, you are dedicated to providing a positive learning environment based on sound developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 3-5. You play a crucial role in supporting the mission of CAC by adhering to education, health, safety, and nutritional practices established by CAC's Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program. Responsibilities: Collaborative Lesson Planning: Work closely with the lead teacher to develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the ECE Curriculum, Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, and Maryland Early Learning Standards. Child Development: Support each child's individual learning and development by providing a developmentally appropriate environment, including suitable equipment and opportunities for self-expression. Screening and Assessment: Assist in completing the Agency’s developmental and behavioral screening within the mandated 45 days. Participate in ongoing assessments, including observations, quarterly assessments, and developmental checklists. Classroom Management: Maintain classroom management and educational instruction in the absence of the lead teacher, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment. Inclusive Education: Follow the child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) to ensure inclusivity for children with disabilities. Program Implementation: Contribute to the implementation of a daily program with quality teacher and child-initiated activities, both indoors and outdoors. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with staff, supervisors, administrators, co-workers, community professionals, clients, vendors, and parents. Parental Involvement: Invite parents to become integral parts of the program by providing opportunities for participation in classroom and agency activities. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an Associates degree in early childhood education. Minimum of 1 year of experience in an educational program with 3- to 5-year-old children. Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle during work hours. Able to read, write, comprehend, and speak English. Proficient in using Office Suite programs and academic platforms as needed. Able to move quickly to respond to active children, ensuring their safety and the safety of others in the environment Preferred Previous experience in Early Childhood Education. Proficiency in data management and project management.
