Description Solterra Academy provides comprehensive special education for students aged 5 to 22 requiring intensive intervention due to severe emotional, behavioral, cognitive, developmental, and/or learning challenges. Our dedication lies in the cooperative, self-motivated, adjusted, and academically accomplished development of each child. We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher for our Vocational Program to support students in developing essential job-readiness skills and to assist in implementing vocational instruction aligned with IEP goals. This role is ideal for someone who is highly motivated, patient, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping students build independence and workplace skills. Starting Rate: $23.00, commensurate with experience Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (In-Person) Summer Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM (In-Person) Please note: This position requires a year-round commitment, including both the regular school year and our summer session. We do not offer summer-only employment. Responsibilities Build positive and therapeutic relationships with students and actively engage regularly Follow and reinforce classroom expectations in line with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) systems. Ensure the collection of data on student performance by Classroom Staff Members during Vocational Classes. Assist in planning and preparation of instructional materials in collaboration with the Vocational Teacher Provide active supervision and assist students within the classroom and throughout the school environment. Support on-site and community job placements and communicate with job site supervisors. Assist students with academic tasks. Implement Behavior Intervention Plans with assigned students. Provide feedback to students in a therapeutic manner. Collect data on student behaviors. Use restorative strategies with students as needed In the absence of the Vocational Teacher, provide substitute instruction. Requirements Bachelor's Degree required Previous experience working with children with severe behaviors and/or in a Vocational Training setting is a plus Public Service Driver’s License Endorsement A (PSL) required Serve Safe certification required with 90 days of transfer to this position CPR certification required within 90 days of hire (training provided by Solterra Academy). Certification in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention required with the first training course provided after hire date (training provided by Solterra Academy).
