In this role, you’ll work with the Laboratory Manager and the Mine Tailings team as a Laboratory Technician. This role will be based full-time in our Perth laboratory. As an Assistant Laboratory Technician, you'll: * Under guidance from Laboratory Manager perform sampling, sample preparation, testing and reporting of soil and tailings samples from global projects.  * Maintain concise and detailed records of all testing activities.  * Preparing testing reports for review and approval.  * Operate, calibrate, and conduct routine maintenance of test systems.  * Work with Engineers/Project Team to complete day-to-day duties/operations  * Understand and follow WSP health, safety, and environment policies and procedures  * Display a safety-first attitude and always be conscious of health and safety  * Identify and report hazards, near misses, and incidents in the HSE Learnings Database   What you'll bring: * Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent (external training can be provided)  * Current Australian driver's license  * Experience working in a testing laboratory would be an advantage  * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills  * Experience in laboratory and field testing of soil and tailings materials to recognised global standards (AS/ASTM/ISO)  * Operate, calibrate, and conduct routine maintenance of test systems.  * Good problem-solving and analytical skills  * High attention to detail, thorough and diligent in work tasks  * Self-starter  * Ability to work in a safe manner and actively foster an interdependent health and safety culture  * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and basic mathematical skills  * Client service skills   Why WSP?
