JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean for Administration, the Assistant to the Associate Dean assists and provides administrative support to the Associate Dean in all matters in the Associate Dean’s portfolio, including coordinating various college-wide operational processes. This position also serves as the COB Communications Specialist, overseeing the communications strategy and implementation for the college.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrates strong organizational and computer skills, including proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, email, and databases. Communicates effectively both in writing and verbally, and fosters positive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and vendors. Works independently with sound judgment, accuracy, and efficiency, and thrives in a diverse and inclusive environment.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university’s commitment to a “vision of excellence.”

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Equivalent to five years of administrative support experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience monitoring student enrollment and updating related tracking documents preferred.

PHYSICAL SUMMARY

  • Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Communication Specialist for the College of Business.
  • Coordinate various college-wide academic operational processes, including class scheduling, faculty and lecturer evaluations, committee membership and elections, SPOT evaluations, faculty office allocations, part-time lecturer job postings, and standard course outlines.
  • Manage the Associate Dean for Administration’s schedule and correspondence and provide administrative support to the Associate Dean.
  • Serve as ASC for special COB programs including International Business, Legal Studies in Business, Honors, and Internship courses.
  • Direct or indirect supervision of student workers.
