POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) invites well qualified candidates to apply for the position of Assistant to the Associate Director of Information Services. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with coursework in technical services relating to business administration and operations.
  • Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in public administration or project management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prefers a master’s degree in computer science with focus on application development.
  • Prefers five (5) or more years of professional experience in application development.
  • Prefers five (5) or more years of professional experience in database analysis and design.
  • Prefers two (2) or more years of professional experience in On-Line Testing Administration.
  • Prefers two (2) or more years in Technical Project Management.
  • Prefers two (2) or more years of professional experience as a Technical Instructor.
  • Prefers four (4) or more years of demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive, cooperative working relationships, specifically with state government officials, but also with agency staff and the general public.
  • Prefers four (4) or more years of professional experience working in a governmental environment.
  • Prefers three (3) or more years of demonstrated understanding of the ILETSB’s proprietary applications, which include Police Training Board (PTB), Law Enforcement Document Interchange (LEDI), and Law Enforcement Training Management (LETM).
  • Prefers three (3) or more years of demonstrated understanding of database constructs, their correlations to similar and disparate applications, and how they integrate with PTB, LEDI, and LETM.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Requires expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Excel & similar Internet-based applications.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment, and employee may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry-related topics relevant to job duties.
  • This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. This job may require a good deal of walking or standing and involves sitting for long periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to pass a criminal background and work history check.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as the Assistant to the Associate Director of Information Services.
  • Consults directly with application development staff to provide insight and guidance to develop, modify, and enhance the agency’s proprietary database applications, which include Police Training Board (PTB), Law Enforcement Document Interchange (LEDI), and Law Enforcement Training Management (LETM).
  • Serves as Database Administrator for the agency’s proprietary in-house database applications, which consist of PTB, LEDI, and LETM.
  • Serves as Testing Administrator, administering ILETSB’s on-line testing service, ScanTron, EvaExam.
  • Provides training, support, and guidance to agency staff and external partners on the use and functions of agency applications PTB, LEDI and LETM.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
