QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Drive).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information (FERPA/HIPPA compliance).
  • Experience working with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SpedForms, MARSS reporting, and IEP processes.
  • Background in public education or special education.
  • Associate’s degree

The Assistant to the Director of Special Education and Student Support Services provides high-level administrative, operational, and data support to the Special Education and Student Support Services department. This role ensures efficient departmental function through coordination, communication, and compliance with district and state requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Support implementation of strategic action plans.
  • Manage calendars and timelines.
  • Coordinate with site-based admin staff to ensure consistency.
  • Submit required reports (e.g., MARSS, MDE).
  • Track reporting deadlines and organize digital records.
  • Draft internal communications and update departmental webpages.
  • Monitor department budgets and reconcile expenditures.
  • Submit purchase orders and maintain inventory list.
  • Organize logistics for special education assessments
  • Schedule PD events, track attendance and CEUs, process timesheets. coordinate logistics and maintain training records.
  • Administrator of systems such as Sped Forms, Uniques, and Q-Interactive.
  • Serve as point of contact for internal and external inquiries.
  • Participate in training and support new staff onboarding.
  • Identify and suggest workflow or system improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned
