ASSISTANT TRANSPORT MANAGER
Location: Lutterworth, Magna Park
Working hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday
Howard Tenens are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Transport Manager to join our site at Magna Park. This is great opportunity for someone who is keen to progress and potentially start their development journey to becoming a Transport Manager in the future. Ambition and a passion for the Transport industry is essential for this role along with previous knowledge and experience within transport operations. By joining Howard Tenens, you will contribute to the team by managing the day-to-day transport operation whilst providing effective management of resources. It is also vital that the Assistant Transport Manager is connected to the customer ensuring that all customer KPI’s are met and all queries are resolved.
· Accountable for maintaining a high standard of vehicle compliance, presentation, security and cleanliness.
· Contribute to the implementation and delivery of the overall operational strategy.
· Manage the day-to-day transport operation in a cost-effective manner making alterations to the daily plans in line with changing demands.
· Provide effective management of resources to maximise utilisation of vehicles.
· Ensure that all customer KPI’s and operational deadlines are met and exceeded.
· Responsible for managing the output of P&L accounts in accordance with agreed budgeted levels.
· Dealing with any account issues, including customer complaints.
· Demonstrate a proactive approach to risk management and adherence to health and safety regulations.
· Accident and incident management and reporting, including thorough investigation.
· Provide a liaison with all customers both internal and external, suppliers and other parties as required.
· Provide effective communication at all levels and across all functions.
· Manage individual’s performance and attendance.
· Recruit, train, motivate and mentor transport team in order to provide a flexible team who constantly achieve departmental KPI’s.
· To manage and ensure all deliverable CPC hours training is up to date and in accordance with current CPC driver legislation.
· Be involved in disciplinary and grievance processes.
· Responsible for highlighting to your Manager any potential quality issues, including hygiene, security and damage issues and resolving them effectively.
· Supporting operational cover (including out of hours cover) in line with current customer operating requirements.
· PC Literate (proficient in MS Excel & Word) with knowledge of the relevant transport systems or the ability to quickly learn to use them.
· H&S training and qualification.
· Previous experience in 3PL multi-user fleets is desirable
· Experience of transport financial reporting.
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a transport operation.
· To be a CPC holder
· KPI production and management.
· Previous first line management experience.
· Previous Transport Management System experience
· In depth knowledge of transport operations.
· Transport Manager Certificate Professional Competence (CPC).
· Up to date knowledge of commercial vehicle related legislation.
· Enthusiastic and motivated people manager.
· Proven experience in managing teams.
