SPARK OUR INTEREST!
Our hiring decisions are not only based on your experience and skills, but your passion, attitude and alignment to our core values.
We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on finance professional who can drive innovation, build strong relationships, and lead with integrity.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, and possess equivalent experience that demonstrates your expertise in financial management. Proven experience in financial management is essential, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in both regulated and non-regulated sectors.
You should have a deep understanding of debt capital markets, with practical experience in swap trading and dealing. A solid knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements is crucial, as is the ability to navigate complex financial landscapes and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are essential for this position. You will need to demonstrate your ability to assess financial situations, devise effective strategies, and make sound decisions that drive the organisation’s financial success. Additionally, your communication and leadership abilities must be exceptional, as you will be engaging with internal and external stakeholders, presenting complex financial information, and leading a team of professionals.
Effective presentation and business writing skills are critical, as you will be required to prepare and deliver reports and updates to senior leadership and external partners. Your proficiency with Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Powerpoint, will be a key asset, as advanced computer literacy is needed to manage financial data and reporting tools efficiently.
Candidates holding professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, CTP, or CCTA will be prioritised, as these qualifications will demonstrate a high level of expertise and commitment to the financial profession. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic, high-stakes treasury environment.
As Assistant Group Treasurer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Group Treasurer in overseeing all aspects of the treasury function, including capital planning, funding, liquidity management, hedging, comprehensive treasury reporting and insurance. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to engage in high-level financial strategy, compliance, cash flow optimisation, risk management, and long-term strategic financial planning. In this role, you will closely monitor funding markets and provide regular updates to the Treasurer, developing strategies to reduce capital costs.
You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing diverse loan and debt capital market programs, as well as arranging and executing loan facilities and debt capital market transactions. You will engage with debt investors, provide regular updates, and negotiate terms and conditions for debt platforms to ensure favourable outcomes for the organisation.
A key aspect of this position involves contributing to the digitalisation of treasury workflows, including the integration of AI and automation.
You will be expected to maintain and improve treasury management systems, develop forecasting tools, and use analytics to optimise liquidity and manage daily cash flow. Furthermore, you will provide crucial information to support business planning and budgeting processes, ensuring optimal funding of shortfalls and investment of surpluses within Treasury Policy parameters.
You will collaborate with the Treasury Risk Manager to develop and execute hedging programs, managing interest rate and foreign exchange risks. Additionally, you will stay informed about insurance programs and their impact on the debt portfolio, monitoring financial markets to reduce capital costs and mitigate earnings volatility. You will work with our insurance brokers and underwriters ensuing best in class insurance outcomes and policy coverage.
A vital part of your role will involve working closely with the group Treasurer, Head of Corporate Finance and Risk manager to assess capital needs, develop capital management strategies, and provide expert advice on treasury activities and financial risk management. You will also support the Group Treasurer in maintaining relationships with key financial partners such as bank lenders, capital market arrangers, advisors, investors, and credit rating agencies.
You will act as a custodian of Ausgrid’s relationships with bank traders, structurers, advisors, and investors, while also contributing to the management of best practice compliance and treasury processes. This includes developing and maintaining regulatory hedging manuals and reviewing the feasibility of establishing a sustainable debt funding framework aligned with the corporate sustainability strategy.
In addition, you will oversee the reporting of derivative exposures and cash flow forecasts, supporting the Group Treasurer to deliver high-quality management and Board reports and drafting Board and Risk Committee papers. You will also be responsible for mentoring a team of finance professionals, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, and providing leadership in both day-to-day operations and strategic projects.
