Zwicker is presently seeking an Assistant Vice President, Human Resources, to join our team in our Tampa, Florida, location. This candidate will be responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resources function within an assigned multi-state territory. This position requires the candidate to work a flexible schedule, travel, be well-versed in state-specific employment practices, and be heavily involved in employee relations. Responsibilities include Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions) Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations with the assistance of HR team members Annually reviews and makes recommendations to HR executives for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters Works with hiring managers on interviewing to ensure a smooth, consistent, and effective hiring process Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures the Firm's compliance Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state, and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters, including FMLA, ADA, etc. Communicates changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed Consults with HR executives on personnel matters Recommends, evaluates, and participates in staff development for the organization Utilizes human resource information system(s) Participates in committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities Communicates with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing (e.g., applicants, managers, employees) Adheres to workplace and client-specific compliance standards Achieves position-specific performance goals Other duties as assigned Requirements Bachelor’s Degree Five years of progressive HR experience with significant exposure to employee relations Proven Experience in Policy Enforcement, Investigations, and resolving workplace issues and Employment Law Compliance (e.g., FMLA, ADA, Title VII) Legal and Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws Be able to read and comprehend position-specific documents and correspondence, which at times may be voluminous Be able to regularly interact and communicate in a common language with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing Be able to operate a computer, phone, or equivalent device Be able to complete a minimum of a 40-hour flexible workweek schedule Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree Professional HR Certification(s) Law Firm HR Management Experience Multi-state HR experience Physical Qualifications Be able to lift five pounds or greater Be able to sit 90% of the workday at times Be able to bend at the waist and be mobile when needed Be able to concentrate and use critical thinking Please note that this job description is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of all activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee in this position.
