Position Summary Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Advancement Engagement, the Assistant Vice President for Presidential Engagement, is responsible for designing, executing, and managing high impact engagement strategies that strengthen the university’s relationships with key external partners, influencers, and supporters in collaboration with the Office of the President. The Assistant Vice President for Presidential Engagement oversees all aspects of Presidential engagement with strategic advisory groups, including Board of Visitors and Presidential Councils, including the following councils but not limited to Presidential Leadership, Real Estate, Women in Philanthropy, and Athletics. This role works closely with leadership within the Office of the President, Institutional Advancement, Athletics, Government and Community Affairs, and colleges/schools across the university to ensure coordinated, mission-aligned engagement of Temple’s most valued constituencies. The Assistant Vice President of Presidential Engagement provides leadership, strategic direction, and operational management to create meaningful, goal-driven engagement opportunities that advance the university’s academic, philanthropic, and community priorities. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience * Master's Degree. * At least eight years of experience in development, constituent, or campaign management, preferably in a higher education setting. * An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities * Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior executives, donors, trustees, business leaders, and academic leaders. * Demonstrated success managing high-level advisory groups or volunteer committees. * Strong strategic planning, project management, and organizational skills. * Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and diplomacy. * Experience overseeing events involving high-profile stakeholders and complex logistics. Essential Duties Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight * Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Advancement Engagement, align engagement programs with institutional goals, donor pipeline priorities, and presidential initiatives. * Lead the strategy, design, and implementation of comprehensive engagement plans for the Board of Visitors and all Presidential Councils, including—but not limited to—the Presidential Leadership Council, Real Estate Council, Women in Philanthropy, and Athletics Council. * Develop metrics and evaluation processes to measure program effectiveness and constituent satisfaction, using data to refine engagement strategies. Board of Visitors & Presidential Councils Management * In coordination with the Office of the President, University leadership, and school, college, unit partners manage member recruitment, onboarding, stewardship, and term management for all councils and advisory groups. * Serve as the central administrative and strategic liaison with school, college and unit partners for all Board of Visitors operations. * Standardize volunteer guidelines and governance policies across councils and advisory boards. * Develop meeting agendas, briefing materials, strategic reports, and annual program plans in collaboration with senior leadership. • Ensure strong communication with members and create a cohesive, high-quality advisory experience across all groups. Presidential Event & Suite Management * Partner with Strategic University Events regarding President’s Suite and related hospitality operations at Temple University sporting events to ensure alignment with philanthropic goals and donor engagement. * Coordinate Institutional Advancement guest lists, invitation processes, event flow, engagement objectives, and follow-up communications with high-priority stakeholders. * Collaborate with Strategic University Events and Athletics for game-day execution, and ensure seamless, high-touch experiences for VIP guests, donors, alumni leaders, and key partners. Collaboration & Cross-Campus Partnerships * Serve as a strategic liaison between the Office of the President and Institutional Advancement for constituent engagement matters. * Work closely with deans, academic units, and university leadership to identify opportunities for high-value engagement of visitors and council members. * Coordinate with Communications staff to ensure clear, consistent messaging and branded materials for all engagement programs. Volunteer Management & Administration * Provide strategic leadership for volunteer management across all Boards of Visitors and Presidential Councils, including the recruitment, onboarding, engagement, stewardship, and recognition of volunteer leaders; ensure clear role expectations, strong communication, and alignment with institutional priorities and the broader donor and leadership pipeline. * Ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and governance expectations. * Provide regular reports to the Associate Vice President for Advancement Engagement and senior leadership on program activity, outcomes, and strategic recommendations.
