Description
Job Purpose: The basic functions of the Assistant Warehouse Manager position responsibilities is the managing of our daily operations of the warehouse on their designated shift, to include scheduling warehouse worker hours, inbound and outbound loading, Inventory Control, Maintenance of warehouse equipment and warehouse housekeeping. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Ensure the facility performs yard checks, including checking all trailers in dock doors and in yard for empties and loads. * Make sure yard has no trailers parked in such a way as to hinder movement of the other trailers. * Ensures all paperwork from previous day's work is complete and distributed to proper departments. * Oversees loading/unloading of all carriers. * Make sure trailers are emptied and available for local drivers. * Conducts periodic dock safety checks. * Keeps track of warehouse customer's inventory by computer and complete physical inventory counts. * Ensures timely processing of warehouse customer orders, bill preparation and inventory control. * Oversee the picking of orders from the warehouse and the staging or loading of the orders. * Ensures proper scheduling of carriers to pick up warehouse customer orders as directed by the customers. * Managing warehouse personnel, scheduling work hours, personnel issues, performance reviews, and all disciplinary actions. * Ensure all training of fork-lift operators on the procedures for handling company freight and specific requirements for handling customer's freight. * Manage warehouse space and maximize usage of warehouse layout. * Ensure warehouse is kept clean and organized at all times, and know that all food safety requirements are met. Required Skills: * Warehouse management experience with additional background in Inventory Control Systems. * Solid experience in Excel, data entry, and general computer skills. * Experienced in managing a staff of 30 or more employees and multiple shifts. * Ability to maintain a clean and orderly warehouse operation. * Good communication. * Leadership and management abilities. * Budgeting * Interpersonal skills. * Motivational and goal setting expertise. * Ability to Define and resolve problems. * Effective Communicator with customers and other Company Managers. * Organizational and scheduling skills * Computer skills including Word, Excel (spreadsheet), Power Point, and ability to learn application software used in the Company.   Additional Skills: * Possess a sense of urgency, accountability, and be able to work with limited supervision. * Ability to work as part of a team. * Must be able to read, write, and understand English. * Attention to detail and quality a must. * Flexibility in working overtime when needed, and supplying coverage to other shifts. * Ability to work in a fast paced warehouse. Qualifications: * Three (3) to Five (5) years of management experience. * Experienced in Warehousing Management Education: * College Degree Preferred or extensive background in transportation warehouse management. Language Skills Sets: * Must be able to communicate, read, write, and speak English. * Ability to read, analyze, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Mathematical Skills: * Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate standard deviation, probability and statistical analysis. Reasoning Ability: * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to determine "root cause" of problem and determine corrective action. Physical Demands: * Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. * Must be able to be on feet for full shift (8 hours). * Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required. * Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances. Work Environment: * While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment will range from quiet to moderately loud.
