Job Details Level: Entry Job Location: Bethany Home Association of Lindsborg Kansas - Lindsborg, KS 67456 Position Type: Full Time Job Shift: Graveyard Job Category: Health Care Work under the supervision of Assisted Living Operator and Assisted Living Nurse care for the Assisted Living residents according to level needed. Dispense medication in a safe and timely manner to Assisted Living residents requiring this service. Practice the Five Rights of Medication Administration: 1.) Right resident, 2.) Right medication, 3.) Right time, 4.) Right route, 5.) Right dose. Observe and report any change in resident’s condition to Charge Nurse. Take vital signs as ordered. Maintain a clean and well-stocked medication cart. Document medication administration according to Bethany Home Assisted Living policy. Understand and maintain confidentiality. Manage routine chores, such as laundry, and housekeeping as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES: Have knowledge of, and pass medications as ordered by physician Take vital signs as ordered. Observe for possible need for PRN medication and report observations to Assisted Living Nurse. Administer PRN medications as ordered by Assisted Living Nurse. Understand possible side effects and interactions of medications. Maintain a clean and well-stocked medication cart. Understand and maintain confidentiality. Understand Bethany Home Assisted Living's policies on abuse prevention, safety, fire safety, severe weather safety. Implement infection control practices according to Bethany Home Association policy. Understand and document according to Bethany Home Association policy. Completes all assigned in-service training. Assures medication certification is current at all times. All other assigned duties. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: State of Kansas Nurse’s Aide Certification and Medication Aide Certification. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and practice of the five rights of medication administration. Knowledge of possible side effects and interactions of medication. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks. Document according to Bethany Home Assisted Living policy. Observe any changes in resident condition and possible need for PRN medications, report those changes or needs to Assisted Living Nurse. Administer PRN medications as ordered by the Assisted Living Nurse. Ability to work well with people, including staff, residents, families and visitors. Knowledge and practice of Bethany Home Assisted Living safety procedures, and infection control practices. Understanding of Bethany Home Assisted Living policies on abuse prevention, resident’s rights and confidentiality. Ability to follow and carry out requests of Assisted Living Nurse or Operator.
Responsibilities
The Certified Medication Aide will care for Assisted Living residents, dispense medication safely, and observe and report any changes in residents' conditions. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a clean medication cart and managing routine chores.
