Job Description Summary Transamerica Life seeks a self-driven actuary, with a proven record of, or interest in, performing cross-functionally in a highly visible role groomed towards leadership development. The Special Projects team works seamlessly across all Life products (UL, IUL, VUL & Traditional Life), in a variety of endeavors (assumption setting, financial analysis, risk and profit assessment), and is usually the frontline at which key strategic company initiatives are developed and tested. Accordingly, the successful candidate will operate with a high degree of independence, leading analytical efforts across multiple projects and delivering insights that shape key business decisions. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to effectively communicate findings to both actuarial and non-technical senior management, work collaboratively, and, when necessary, propose appropriate courses of action. Job Description Responsibilities: Drive (IFRS/GAAP/Stat) assumption setting across life blocks, including model development, testing, analysis, and communication of results to leadership. Actuarially assess non-routine, financial transactions including, but not limited to: UL COI Rate Increases and its subsequent impact on policyholder behavior IUL/VUL Reserving & Hedging impacts on economic volatility and profit emergence Reinsurance - including 3rd Party (YRT, Coinsurance, Sidecar) & Captives Traditional Life Pre- & Post-Level-Term Policyholder Behavior Support key company initiatives including implementation of GAAP, process improvements & automation, and utilization of AI tools. For this highly sought position the successful candidate will require rare, job-specific, skillsets: Ability to work autonomously under defined timelines. Capable of prioritizing varied unrelated tasks. Proficient modeler (AXIS proficiency preferred). Effective communicator (oral & written) – (Specific prior examples may be requested.) Demonstrated history of analyzing and analytically interpretating large data sets – (Specific prior examples may be requested). Exemplify highest professional integrity and standards. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field and 5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of Bachelor's, will accept Master's in a listed discipline and 4 years of relevant experience. FSA or equivalent professional designation. In lieu of FSA will accept ASA or equivalent professional designation and 8 years of relevant experience. Demonstrates high quality leadership, judgment, organization and prioritization skills. Effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing, advanced mathematical and analytical concepts to various audiences. Works well under pressure and within time constraints to effectively accomplish individual and team objectives. Advanced computer skills. Preferred Qualifications: GGY AXIS and Power BI experience.
