Description

Technical Data Analysis, Inc. (TDA), an aerospace engineering and software consulting company, has an immediate direct, full-time position available at their Lexington Park, MD office for an Associate Aerospace Engineer to apply their educational experience to the field of cutting-edge military aircraft. The successful candidate will work in a team environment to track individual aircraft usage and determine its fatigue life to ensure safety of flight. The Associate Aerospace Engineer will support engineering activities related to structural design, stress and fatigue analysis, aircraft flight loads monitoring, and static, fatigue, and fracture testing for fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. This support follows the entire life cycle of an aircraft: from the basic research and development stages to acquisition and in-service fleet support, to retirement from active service.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to work effectively with small teams in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to interact with clients for data gathering and design initiation

Experience or demonstrated coursework in any of the following areas is a plus:

  • Military aircraft design criteria and specifications
  • Derivation of aircraft mission profiles, corresponding repeated loads for aircraft/components, and repeated loads spectra
  • Derivation of aerodynamic, ground, inertial, or vibro-acoustic design loads, including the effects of aero-elasticity
  • Analysis of flight-test loads and parameters
  • Design experience on metallic and composite airframe structures
  • Structural analysis (i.e., strength, aero-elastic, aero-servo-elastic, vibro-acoustic, or dynamic response analyses) and/or finite element modeling
  • Fatigue/durability and damage tolerance analysis
  • Probability and statistics
  • Full-scale aircraft or major airframe component static, dynamic, or fatigue testing
  • Aircraft flight loads monitoring systems
  • SQL, Python, R or VBA
  • Willingness to leverage current tool-building skills to learn to build tools in a Windows server with Fortran 77/90/95, SQL/PL SQL, VBA, R and Python environment
  • Data acquisition systems, dataset preparation and data analysis

Other Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of practical experience preferred, but entry level considered
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance a plus
