About the job The MJ Companies is seeking a motivated and curious Associate Analyst to join our growing analytics team. This entry-level role is designed to build foundational skills in data analysis, visualization, and business problem-solving. As a training role for the Analyst position, the Associate Analyst will support internal teams and clients by assisting in the development of data-driven insights and solutions. Essential functions Data Preparation & Validation: Assist in collecting, cleaning, and validating data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and readiness for analysis. Reporting & Visualization: Support the creation of reports and visualizations that effectively communicate insights to internal teams and clients. Analytical Development: Learn and apply foundational statistical and modeling techniques to identify trends, patterns, and drivers of business outcomes. Client & Team Collaboration: Participate in discussions with internal and external stakeholders to understand business challenges and contribute to data-informed solutions. Data Architecture Support: Help maintain and enhance data models and architecture that support analytics and reporting needs within Employee Benefits. Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to learning new tools and approaches that improve processes and outcomes. Education Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Business Administration (with a focus on analytics), Actuarial Science, Risk Management, or a related business discipline (preferred) Ability to obtain Life & Health License upon hire Knowledge & Experience Relevant experience (internship, co-op programs, academic projects) in analytics, data analysis, or related fields. can be counted). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.). Exposure to data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Basic experience with analytical tools or programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R) is a plus. Understanding of root cause analysis and ability to communicate findings clearly. Technical functions Strong verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with data mining and analytic tools (e.g., Access, SQL, SAS, SPSS, R). Exposure to business intelligence platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik). Basic understanding of modeling techniques and statistics (e.g., regression, clustering).
