POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate/Analyst, Investment Banking - Asia/APAC Division, is a mid-level position based in the US, supporting the expansion of the investment banking platform. This role collaborates with team members to drive new business, execute transactions, and manage client relationships, with a specific focus on the Asia/APAC markets. Responsibilities include supporting senior bankers on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt offerings, and other corporate finance activities. The Associate will gain comprehensive exposure to a variety of transactions by conducting financial analyses, preparing marketing materials, managing due diligence processes, and maintaining communication with clients and stakeholders.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required; degrees in Finance, Economics, or a related field are preferred.
Required Licensure: FINRA licenses 63 and 79.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND/OR KNOWLEDGE:

  • Fluency in Mandarin is required.
  • 2-4 years of investment banking experience with a focus on the Asia/APAC markets.
  • Strong interest and understanding of financial markets, particularly within the Asia/APAC region.
  • Excellent technology skills with superior Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Professional maturity and experience to interact with senior bankers.
  • Demonstrated strategic and creative thinking and distinguished communication skills.
  • Ability to manage several projects at once and work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Strict attention to detail with demonstrated ability to take initiative.
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis and modeling techniques.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling software, such as Excel, and other financial databases.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to conduct research and analyze data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling marketing materials.
  • Strong public speaking skills and comfort with leading large group conference calls.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external clients.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to investment banking, including SEC regulations.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in the Asia region.

SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires some flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends to meet client deliverables.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires ability to travel locally by car/public transportation, as well as regular domestic trips involving air travel for multi-night stays.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct financial analyses such as discounted cash flow (DCF) and comparable company analysis (CCA) to evaluate potential transactions within the Asia/APAC markets.
  • Prepare marketing materials such as pitch books, teasers, and offering memorandums tailored for clients and investors interested in the Asia/APAC region.
  • Manage due diligence processes by coordinating with legal, accounting, and other advisors to identify and address potential risks and issues specific to transactions involving Asia/APAC companies.
  • Communicate with clients, investors, and other stakeholders to provide updates on transaction progress and address any concerns or questions related to the Asia/APAC market.
  • Support senior bankers in managing the overall deal process, including negotiating terms and conditions with counterparties from the Asia/APAC region.
  • Partner with senior banking team members to build financial models and prepare presentation materials and other deliverables for investment banking clients focused on the Asia/APAC markets.
  • Serve as a key resource working closely with Vice Presidents and Managing Directors to create client deliverables and meet ad-hoc client requests specific to the Asia/APAC region.
  • Lead due diligence sessions for clients involved in transactions within the Asia/APAC markets.
  • Play a key role in supporting origination, evaluating opportunities, and executing deals across a broad scope of assignments and products within the Asia/APAC region.
  • Prepare client presentations and final work products tailored to the Asia/APAC markets.
  • Perform industry and company research focused on the Asia/APAC region.
  • Assist in coordinating information flow and execution with product groups, ensuring relevance to the Asia/APAC markets.
  • Conduct financial analysis and modeling to support the valuation of companies and assist in the pricing of transactions within the Asia/APAC region.
  • Create marketing materials, including pitch books and offering memoranda, to support the marketing and distribution of transactions in the Asia/APAC markets.
  • Conduct market and industry research to identify potential clients and market trends within the Asia/APAC region.
  • Participate in managing relationships with clients, including attending client meetings and providing support to senior team members with a focus on the Asia/APAC markets.
  • Participate in the due diligence process by reviewing financial statements and conducting research on potential risks and opportunities specific to the Asia/APAC region.
  • Assist in the preparation of transaction documents, including term sheets, purchase agreements, and other legal documentation relevant to transactions in the Asia/APAC markets.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including legal, accounting, and other advisors, to execute transactions involving the Asia/APAC region.
