WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We’re looking for an Associate Assignment Editor who’s responsible for staying on top of the stories that matter to Canadian sports fans and our ever-growing audience, who is as good at long range planning as they are reacting to breaking news, and who ensures our coverage is best in class.
Please note: As Sportsnet is a continuous operation, this position regularly requires evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Flag sound and news from around the sports world to ensure all our platforms are aware and able to request proper coverage.
  • Shot-list sound while at the same time highlighting and alerting departments to important sound bites and content
  • Remote coordinate live hits/talkbacks via the control room with reporters and analysts in the field
  • Work with our Assignment Editors and Editorial/Production management to ensure comprehensive coverage of all sports news and content
  • Work with Sportsnet’s content teams to ensure that our news coverage is optimal
  • Continually evaluate our ongoing coverage to make adjustments
  • Work with reporters, camera operators and the assignment team to leverage our resources into the best coverage possible
  • Collaborate with Sportsnet’s senior editorial team to innovate, developing new forms of content and the workflows needed to produce that content
  • Communicate Sportsnet’s coverage plans to all relevant parties, platforms and content leads
  • Build strong and collaborative relationships within and outside Sportsnet
