Position Summary The Associate Athletic Director and Head Football Coach serves as a key leader within the school’s athletic department, promoting excellence in athletics while upholding the school’s Christian mission and values. This dual role combines administrative leadership with direct coaching responsibilities to develop student-athletes spiritually, academically, and athletically. As Associate Athletic Director, the individual assists in the overall management and direction of the athletic program, including scheduling, budgeting, compliance, facility oversight, and coordination of staff. The role supports the vision, mission, and culture of a Christ=centered athletic program. As Head Football Coach, the individual is responsible for leading all aspects of the football program—from player development and coaching strategy to mentorship and community engagement. The coach fosters a culture of integrity, teamwork, and discipline while guiding student-athletes to reach their full potential both on and off the field. SCS coaches are expected to demonstrate patience, humility, integrity, and kindness while performing the day-to-day duties of the role and to prayerfully work with administration, faculty, students, and families to develop and maintain a school which is distinctively Christian, academically excellent, and globally minded. Essential Job Responsibilities -Associate Athletic Director Serves as a key member of the athletic department administration team; assists the Athletic Director and associated staff in the daily operations of the department Creates an environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement, and supports high expectations for academic and athletic achievement Helps organize athletic events (schedules, transportation, logistics), tournaments, camps, banquets, and other community engagement activities Ensures compliance with TAPPS policies, eligibility requirements, game protocols, and scheduling Provides leadership within the athletics department in the form of staff mentorship, administrative duties, and game/event administration and is a key liaison between coaches, faculty, administration, and parents; has a role in the hiring, onboarding, and evaluation of coaches Oversees all middle school boys’ sports as well as high school golf and tennis Maintains clear, open, professional communication with team members, parents, and other school employees Serves as a representative for athletics in school-wide meetings and events; participates in overall campus life Balances department-wide leadership with football-specific responsibilities -Head Football Coach Develops and maintains a competitive TAPPS 5A football program that reflects Christian values Manages the football program, including staff supervision, practice planning, and game preparation Plans, coordinates, and supervises all practices, workouts, film sessions, and game strategies Builds a vertically aligned program (MS–HS) to ensure continuity in player development Organizes player devotions, prayer, and intentional discipleship within the program Supports the overall athletic culture while ensuring the football program sets the tone for excellence and Christ-like leadership Personal & Spiritual Characteristics Leads with integrity, humility, and Christ-centered priorities; demonstrates deep commitment to a consistent daily walk with our Savior, Jesus Christ through prayer, devotional study, and church membership Possesses the ability to work gracefully with parents, students, and other school staff to develop a unified and successful educational program Cooperates with administrators, department chairpersons, and other school leadership to implement policies and procedures as they pertain to the daily operation of the School Demonstrates the ability to accept and carry out responsibilities and make competent, professional decisions Eagerly participates in professional development activities and the evaluation process, with a desire to grow professionally, spiritually, and personally throughout the career in education Maintains a professional personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and is in accordance with school policy Educational & Experience Requirements Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University; Masters Degree preferred 10 or more years of coaching experience (football); Head Coaching experience preferred Proven experience in athletic administration and coaching Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Commitment to integrating faith and athletics in a Christ-centered environment Work Environment The work environment at Southwest Christian School is consistent with a typical school setting. The employee works indoors and outdoors in unpredictable temperatures to monitor student athletic practices and games. The noise level in the environment is usually low to moderate but may become loud occasionally.
