SUMMARY As Associate, Audio Content Developer at Kids2, you will support the design, implementation, and qualification of electronic + software solutions for our Toy and Home product divisions, while laying the foundation of the company’s emerging Asia Content Development capability. Kids2’s products range from simple electronic toys to more complex consumer electronics. Electronics are a critical component of Kids2’s product portfolio. This position requires a keen interest in audio experiences and the ability to weave various audio elements into a resolved product deliverable is the primary responsibility. A thorough understanding of the implementation of digital audio assets is required, including demonstrated competency manipulating and editing .wav files and composing or directing the creation of MIDI assets and related instrument sample libraries. Experience with software sound production tools and related equipment is a requirement and a music composition background, while not required, is advantageous. This position requires a technical skillset to merge the management of software development with creative audio excellence. The candidate will work with experienced designers, engineers, and business leaders to define end user experiences and will direct programmers and content creatives to implement intended solutions. The Candidate must have some experience managing and debugging software for Apps, game designs, or similar, to iteratively manage outside developers towards defined outcomes. The Candidate should have a basic understanding of electronic circuits and components and the ability to trouble-shoot simple board-level problems in development hardware is beneficial. The position requires strong coordination with partners and resources in the US and Asia and excellent written English and Mandarin. Some Asia travel is required. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Excellent hearing acuity and a general interest in “sound” and Sound Production is necessary. Proficiency with .wav audio editors, such as SoundForge, Audition or similar. Experience conceptualizing and designing audio assets is required; the ability to efficiently edit, manipulate and manage digital audio assets is necessary. Familiarity working with studios, composers, programmers, and application engineers to develop and execute sounds and runtimes for Kids2’s new product initiatives. The ability to synthesize company initiatives, preliminary design discussions, and verbal requests into hardware and software requirements, functional specifications, schedules, and general project plans is necessary. The capability to implement, test, and demonstrate integrated hardware/software solutions reflecting these requirements, specifications, and schedules. Proficient in iteratively identifying and communicating software bugs and evolving software functionality into a resolved product solution. Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with multiple development partners, while iteratively refining “play flow” design, audio asset execution, illumination design, and resolving programming issues to realize a defined and resolved product experience. An ability to read, understand, and edit functional specifications written in English and the ability to interpret and translate document intent to verbal or written Mandarin. The Candidate should have experience loading and configuring computer software and troubleshooting configuration and installation problems, which relates to installing and working with emulator hardware (demo boards) and their programming devices. A familiarity with toy functionality and/or game design, otherwise known as “play flow” is helpful. Knowledge of acoustics, low-cost speakers, enclosure design, and audio measurement is beneficial. Experience with ASIA-Pacific product development processes, including prototypes and production validation is helpful. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Minimum 2-3 years of experience in audio content development, sound design, or a related role. Proven experience managing and debugging software for Apps, games, or embedded systems. Experience working with studios, composers, and engineers to create and integrate audio assets. Experience with ASIA-Pacific product development processes (e.g., prototypes, production validation) is a plus. Background in music composition or game/toy design ("play flow") is advantageous. EDUCATION & SKILLS Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Ability to troubleshoot simple hardware issues and manage software projects. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS None required. COMPUTER/TECHNICAL SKILLS Proficiency with .wav audio editors (e.g., SoundForge, Audition) and sound production tools. Skilled in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting software and development environments. PHYSICAL DEMANDS When carrying out this task, we need to stand or sit up, have flexible hands and feet, and have normal listening and speaking ability. The ability of color judgment is needed.
