Bennett and Game are currently working with a well-established consultancy who offer a fully integrated service, specialising in Transport Planning and Highways Design. With offices in Gateshead, Fleet, and a newly opened office in Birmingham, they work across a broad range of projects in both the public and private sectors, including high-profile commercial developments nationwide.
The successful Associate Director - Highways Design will be joining a company that puts its people first and believes its employees are the foundation of its success. REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong project and team management experience, including resource planning and delivery oversight.
  • Extensive technical knowledge and background in highways design projects.
  • Proven ability to manage the full project lifecycle, ensuring delivery within budget and timescales.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in mentoring and developing junior engineers.
  • Robust knowledge of DMRB and highways technical documentation.
  • Experience in preparing contract documentation aligned with highways sector requirements.
  • Ability to advise clients on technical and project matters at a senior level.
  • Working knowledge of Civils 3D and experience in drainage design using Causeway Flow (PDS).
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the delivery of highways designs to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage team workloads and resource allocation to ensure effective delivery across all priority projects.
  • Take full responsibility for preparing and managing project budgets, including cost control and financial tracking.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and project partners throughout all phases.
  • Manage expectations and communications effectively with all internal and external parties.
  • Ensure all design work complies with DMRB, MCHW, and local authority standards and guidance.
  • Review and authorise technical designs and reports, providing feedback and direction where required
  • Work collaboratively with the wider senior management team across regional offices and disciplines.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and high technical standards.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety legislation, particularly CDM Regulations, and maintain a proactive risk management approach.
