Description

JSM Law is currently seeking a an in-office Associate Civil Litigation Lawyer to join our team. The position is a full-time permanent position. NOTE: This position is not salary-based, but rather, a profit-sharing arrangement with endless opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR LAWYER

  • J.D. or LL.B. with exceptional academic credentials;
  • License to practice law in Ontario;
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario;
  • 3+ years of experience at a law firm
  • Interest, expertise and demonstrated previous experience in Civil Law;
  • Experience in construction and exposure to Real Estate would be an asset;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and negotiation skills;
  • Exceptional time management, organizational and prioritization skills;
  • Excellent business judgment and high level of professionalism;
  • Ability to work independently and strong work ethics; and
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities
  • Attend Court
  • Meet with clients
  • Drafting, reviewing, amending and updating civil litigation documents
  • Prepare Statements of Claim, Mediation Memorandum, trial records, etc.
  • Research, factum writing, correspondence with opposing counsel
  • Attend and represent clients for Motions, Examinations for Discovery, pre-trials, trials, etc.
  • Other duties as required.
