Edelman Australia is seeking a passionate corporate and public affairs communications professional to deliver advisory services to our impressive and growing roster of clients.
This is unique opportunity to take on a dual role, in a newly developed offering, which reports to both the Head of Corporate and the company’s Public and Government Affairs Lead, and which also intersects with Edelman’s regional corporate affairs portfolio.
Our corporate and public affairs team offers clients depth of experience in applied consulting across key areas of policy & regulatory engagement, corporate reputation & issues, strategic communications and ESG & impact strategy.
The Associate Client Director is expected to work to thoroughly understand Edelman’s various consulting processes/approaches, crafts, products and global capabilities, be able to demonstrate the value of these offerings to clients, and lead all aspects of their planning and execution.
You will demonstrate that you are commercially capable and team-oriented, ensuring quality delivery against client objectives and, in doing so, upholding the Edelman values and behaviours. You will champion their clients’ business and communication objectives and develop genuine, specialist knowledge in their sector.
It is critical that you are a confident and practised corporate advisor, able to demonstrate strong client relationship development skills, leading client meetings, managing day to day contact, including c-suite, senior client contacts and subject matters experts. With proven ability to influence and gain respect from client, they will look for ways to grow and enhance client relationship and programs.
Associate Client Directors are important, senior leaders in our business and are expected to lead by example and take an active role in team and staff development, and represent Edelman Australia to the highest possible standard externally and internally.

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in public affairs and corporate communications and a strong understanding of media relations, public policy and government relations, with the ability to executive impactful campaigns in both areas
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – active listening and ability to ‘read the room’ with clients and colleagues
  • Confidence in presenting / selling in ideas, stories or solutions, and in providing strategic counsel to clients, including senior stakeholders
  • Problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify right internal stakeholders for any escalation required
  • Commercial acumen and demonstrated proficiency with budgets and financial management
  • Ability to manage competing interests, with strong organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrable team and line management skills and experience
  • The ability to take on and learn from constructive feedback, both good and bad.
