ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE OF THE ASSOCIATE COMBAT SYSTEM ENGINEER:

Relevant experience or education in an aligned engineering field
Prior knowledge of maintenance and support of Maritime Sensors / Radars is desirable
An appreciation of wider Naval Combat Systems
Essential qualifications for the Associate Combat System Engineer:
Honours Degree in Engineering, Physics or similar. HNC/D Level qualification is acceptable if accompanied with appropriate experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Portsmouth site. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.

The Role
As an Associate Combat System Engineer, you will have an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference to the UK’s Armed Forces, and will give you the chance to grow your skills and knowledge in an area of Systems Engineering that deals with some the latest technologies being utilised by the Royal Navy.
Day-to-day, you will operate within a team of engineers to deliver the NCSISS contract. This particular role will see you focused on the maritime sensors/ radar area. You will be required to conduct integration and testing as directed by the Sensor Capability Senior Combat System Engineers, working in partnership with the NCSISS Project Manager, to ensure a consistent approach to the design, delivery and support of our service and advice in accordance with the Technical Delivery Plan.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

Executing key systems engineering activities on significant projects
Engaging with external and internal stakeholders to ensure customer and business needs are satisfied and issues are mitigated
Performing one or more of key systems engineering activities (e.g. requirements engineering, system design, operation and support)
Contributing to technical documentation in support of the work carried out
Delivering work and reporting on progress to project leads and customers
Understand and apply relevant regulatory, safety and technical standards to work and support compliance
