Associate, Cost Manager (Wellington) Join Beca’s Cost Management team in Wellington, contributing to exciting local projects as well as being part of Beca’s award winning national cost team, making a real impact across the country Provide specialist Cost Management, Quantity Surveying and Estimating services developing your career in the infrastructure, power and energy, transport, and industrial sectors Mentor, coach and develop others, helping to grow the next generation of cost management and quantity surveying experts and enable their careers while also having long term career opportunities Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity Deliver cost, estimating and technical frameworks that support complex infrastructure project delivery as part of Beca’s award winning and growing Cost Management team with this role based in Beca’s Wellington regional office. In this role, you will be known as the go-to person in the Cost Management team where you will be working with multi-discipline teams to support the delivery of some of New Zealand’s largest and most complex infrastructure and related projects. You will be working both with Beca’s internal teams, and with key large external clients, and be able to apply your specialist knowledge in either an infrastructure, power and energy, transport or industrial market context. You will be known for your ability to understand initial and concept design project requirements, matched with your ability to build quantity measures and price estimates that are technically credible and based on proven frameworks, yet have the craft and knowledge to work with client and delivery teams to help them understand and utilise your knowledge and insight to support major project delivery. You will be experienced working with ambiguity from a Cost Management perspective, being able to navigate through potential conflict of interest situations and know how to apply rigour to maintain independence from a cost advice perspective. In addition, an important part of this role will be empowering, coaching and mentoring others helping to share your knowledge and expertise, and developing the next generation of Cost Managers. Supporting others development and verification of their cost management estimates will be important, providing credibility with client deliverables. Engaging and representing Beca in the external market will be important as well, including working with the other Cost Manager leaders at Beca such as with NZIQS, RICS and other similar industry organisations. Ko wai koe | About you In this role, you will have plenty of scope for success and we are looking for a high performing professional with a real passion for cost management, who understands logical costing methods, as well as having a client first focus. You will have a demonstrated ability to apply first principals estimating, use composite rates and benchmark data, set initial workable budgets at project inception, and manage cost processes through to completion of a project. You will thrive when working with ambiguity especially in early project planning stages. You will enjoy working in a team and have strong relationship building skills with others based in different offices, as well as being confident working with contractor and design teams. You will be known for your ability to understand and describe complex methods in simple terms. You will enjoy building relationships and understand key project requirements and display commercial and financial judgement. This role may suit candidates from a broad range of backgrounds however does require consulting and advisory abilities and a demonstrated ability to work with others to solve complex client problems. This role can be scoped to enable you to apply and focus on your infrastructure, infrastructure, power and energy, transport or industrial market.
