Description:
UPMC HEALTH PLAN IS LOOKING FOR AN ASSOCIATE DATA SCIENTIST TO JOIN THE MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS TEAM!
UPMC Health Plan is looking for an Associate Data Scientist to produce in-depth reporting and analytics for marketing campaign managers, external business clients, and executive management. The Associate Data Scientist employs a robust computational and mathematical toolset to craft innovative solutions to a wide variety of data-oriented problems. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday daylight business hours or as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Execution of all phases of quantitative research projects: identifying the business problem, data exploration, analysis, and communication of overall findings.
- Design, develop, and implement health care analytics, marketing analytics, and biomedical modeling programs. Generate insights and recommendations for continued operational excellence.
- Support campaign performance analyses with the Marketing team. Develop a reporting structure that is reliable, scalable, and actionable.
- Identify leverage points with promotional materials (design/messaging/cadence) to optimize member engagement across an assortment of audiences and metrics.
- Conceptualizes and carries out ideas for creating and integrating new data elements, collaborating with other Health Plan associates and/or IT staff as necessary.
- Assist the Data Scientist with conceiving, planning, developing, and validating robust machine learning algorithms for prediction and segmentation as necessary.
- Has experience in constructing end-to-end solutions alongside non-technical professionals. Ability to interface between the technical and broader business communities is critical.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or related field required.
- Two years of experience in an analytical role or master’s degree preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong background in analytical, mathematical, and computational skills.
- Solid understanding of database querying and management using SQL strongly preferred.
- Experience with programming languages such as R or Python desirable.
- Knowledge of fundamental statistics and/or machine learning methodologies desirable.
- Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm, and initiative.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment and possess a keen attention to detail.
