Position Overview: We’re seeking a strategic and forward-thinking academic leader who will play a pivotal role in broad academic management to a cluster of diverse programs within the Engineering and Environmental Technologies, Skilled Trades academic area. The Associate Dean provides oversight to programs, including apprenticeship, certificate, and diploma programs. The Associate Dean will also work closely with the Dean and Georgian’s Research and Innovation department to support applied research within Centre of Industrial Simulation and Prototyping Job Details: Job posting date: February 24, 2026 Department: Engineering and Environmental Technologies, Skilled Trades Location: Barrie Campus -hybrid work environment Classification: Administration Employment Type: Full Time Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week Salary Range: $116,182-$154,908 per year Key Responsibilities: Managing the operations of Engineering and Environmental Technologies, Skilled Trades Conducting curriculum review processes and facilitating the on-going review of existing programs Initiating, facilitating and actively participating in the development and implementation of new academic programs and opportunities to reflect market changes and the employment needs of industry, to enhance students’ experience and increase enrolment Ensuring program outcomes are achieved through effective leadership and supervision of the teaching and learning processes Establishing positive relationships with internal (faculty, staff and students) and external (industry/sector representatives, professional associations) partners Working collaboratively in the development and implementation of the academic area’s operational plan in alignment with the academic direction and Georgian’s strategic plan Recruiting, hiring and evaluating all faculty and support staff Ensuring that faculty and staff assignments are consistent with college policies, procedures and collective agreements Initiating problem solving processes for disputes involving staff, faculty and students Supporting enrolment targets and work collaboratively with internal partners to meet Georgian College’s strategic priorities Responsible for managing the health and safety program in the academic area (e.g., training, SOPs, documentation, etc.) Attending Program Advisory Committee meetings, facilitating and/or chairing committees that involve college-wide and/or campus initiatives Initiating and executing community outreach to enhance interest in trades and technology opportunties Representing the Dean, as necessary, at designated events Assisting as necessary with the implementation of special projects across the portfolio Qualifications: Master’s degree in Engineering preferred, with an accredited undergraduate engineering degree suitable for professional engineering licensure Training in teaching/training/curriculum (e.g. Centre for Teaching & Learning courses) A minimum of 9 years of experience in the engineering technology, environmental and/or manufacturing, skilled trades fields with diverse experience in technical shops/labs/fieldwork settings, and good knowledge of industrial-related applications A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in an academic and/or industry setting Experience with the Ontario apprenticeship system and apprenticeship program delivery is an asset Experience with academic processes and procedures (including curriculum development, teaching and learning styles and techniques, complaint procedures, program reviews, collective agreements, etc.) Project management experience with demonstrated analytical and organizational skills to be able to manage multiple projects in an effective and timely manner Experience with an industrial-based Health and Safety environment; knowledge of practices/regulation as applicable to those environments Communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills in order to build and cultivate relationships with a variety of stakeholders and manage difficult situations with diplomacy and tact Ability to identify, address and resolve problems or conflicts in an efficient and diplomatic manner Experience monitoring budgets Demonstrated community connections and networking experience Demonstrated ability to work collegially in a unionized environment Ability to lead effectively in organizational change management Why Work with Us?
