Global Banking School (GBS) was founded in 2010 as a specialist training centre for finance and investment banking. Initially offering courses to students worldwide, GBS expanded its offerings over the years and refocused it’s approach.
In 2016, GBS opened its first campus in London’s East End, focusing on providing education to underrepresented groups. Today, GBS has ten campuses across London, Birmingham, Leeds, and Manchester, offering a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in finance, business, construction management healthcare, computing and more.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants should have an appropriate qualification that can demonstrate very substantial experience as a senior academic manager.
  • Relevant experience of quality assurance within a qualifications / training environment
  • An understanding of faculty qualifications, requirements, and valid assessment.
  • Proficiency in using Excel at either intermediate or advanced level
  • A quality mind-set with a passion for accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A substantial breadth of experience in the higher education sector at a senior academic manager level.
  • Substantial experience in planning and delivering challenging academic targets.
  • Senior leadership experience in teaching and administrative strategic priorities.
  • Evidence of a significant and sustained personal track record of success in developing and leading initiatives to achieve academic excellence.
  • A significant record of success at a senior leadership level of leading key academic and administrative staff.
  • Evidence of excellent and effective communication skills appropriate to operating at a strategic level.
  • Evidence of the necessary interpersonal skills required to galvanise, revitalise, and lead the staff of the department along with the skills to cultivate appropriate internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • A clear personal enthusiasm and commitment to the strategic priorities in the GBS strategic plan.
  • Adaptable – ability to work independently and adjust working style to suit the needs of different targets.
  • Be willing to undertake travel across the UK, which may involve occasional overnight stays.
Responsibilities

Working with the Dean, Associate Deans; Level Leaders and other departments including Academic Standards and Quality Office, Registry, etc. to ensure that all aspects of the student assessment processes maintains a high-quality standard.

The Associate Dean (Assessment) will take the lead for managing the assessment process within the relevant university partnership across all campuses, having specific responsibility for external and internal quality assurance activities; playing a key role in moderation/verification, standardisation, and internal verification of assessments, ensuring all activities are carried out to the high quality expected by GBS regulations and key regulators including the relevant university partner.

  • To lead and manage the assessment process on a day-to-day basis in collaboration with the Dean, Associate Dean, Level Leaders as well as other departments.
  • To support, train and develop the team members within the faculty with respect to assessment practices and procedures.
  • To ensure that marking is completed on time and marks are verified and uploaded.
  • To liaise with the Level Leaders and Faculty Manager to ensure students support activities/actions, and administration tasks are completed on time, including appropriate assignment ‘unpacking’ for students.
  • To plan, organise and monitor the successful execution of the schedule of assessment requirements including moderation and verification process from writing up of briefs to marking and verification of grades.
  • To provide accurate information and advice on GBS and regulators’ assessment policies, regulations and processes relating to assessment.
  • The completion of appropriate internal and external evaluation and feedback reports of the assessment process and resulting outcomes to ensure that any appropriate actions are identified and completed on time.
  • To chair assessment approval and verification meetings and monitor timely action implementation to a successful conclusion.
  • To contribute to the development and enhancement of policy and procedures
  • To manage service standards and compliance with GBS and Regulators’ policy and practice within the Assessment Requirements.
  • To work across sites as required and on occasion to work in the evening and weekends where necessary.
  • To undertake other administrative work as may be required from time to time, such that it is commensurate with the grade of the post.
  • To monitor the standards of all external regulators, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout and advising GBS on their implementation and retraining needs.
