Post Title: Associate Dean Research and Enterprise
SBU: School of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, University of Hertfordshire
FTE: 1 FTE (working 37 hours per week)
Duration of contract: Permanent (5-year tenure)
Salary: AM2 £73,453 - £78,798 pa depending on skills and experience [note: for senior research professors working effectively at a higher grade, in line with their research track record, the ADRE appointment is negotiable at a higher grade]
Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

This is an exciting period for the University, at the start of a new strategic phase and we are seeking a leader to sustain and develop research and enterprise activity within the University’s newly established School of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, set to be the largest School in our university, with more than 500 staff.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Candidates must have an in-depth understanding of the research and enterprise policy and funding landscape and a demonstrable track record of research and/or enterprise leadership and achievements in an area aligned with the School, which has included leading on local policy initiatives, and turning plans into action.
You will also have significant experience of research or commercialisation, and knowledge transfer with a track record of delivering outputs and impact as well as securing funding appropriate to your field. Experience of successful collaborative working internally and externally, building partnerships with key partners is also essential.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
You will have a Doctorate or equivalent level of training and experience

Reporting to the Dean of School, the successful candidate will work with the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) through delegated responsibility to provide leadership for growth, sustainability and vitality for research, enterprise and innovation within the School. Aligned to the University’s strategy, the Associate Dean will ensure the School’s objectives are achieved in the on-going pursuit of quality and excellence for research and enterprise at the University.
The successful candidate will be a member of the School’s Senior Executive Group, working with the Dean of School, Deputy Dean, Heads of Departments and Heads of Research Centres (or their equivalents) to facilitate effective and prompt decision making. The successful candidate will also work with the PVC’s Research and Enterprise Executive (REE) and will be a member of the University’s Research Committee, Research Degrees Board and Knowledge Exchange Advisory Group.
