Salary Range: $65,000-$75,000
At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). POSITION SUMMARY

As an Associate Developer, you will work with the Custom Development team that specializes in using APIs and direct integrations to build connections between banking platforms within the company to allow for automations and data loads between systems, as well as build external facing APIs for Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) partners to be able to access core banking functionality. This role is responsible for working with our internal IT and Business partners to deliver custom solutions to enable automation and process improvements. This position is an individual contributor role.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Collaborates with senior developers, to design and develop custom microservices architecture, ensuring seamless API integrations with our core banking platform and other internal systems.
  • Builds and manages our API (Application Programming Interface) gateway tool to provision secure access for external partners.
  • Develops and manages our Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and containers to enhance the efficiency of our deployment processes.
  • Engages with our internal IT and business partners to understand project requirements, translating them into actionable items.
  • Develops custom solutions, adhering to industry best practices and ensuring solutions are testable and scalable.
  • Proactively enhances skillsets and knowledgebase within our technology stack to stay current with industry trends and advancements.
  • Conducts research to find solutions, seeing guidance from more senior team members to address challenges and to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Actively participates in Agile ceremonies to foster effective communication and synergy within the team.
  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in designing, building, and managing technical solutions including APIs.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (such as Node.js, JavaScript, Python, .NET).
  • Technical proficiency in development languages, version control, IDEs (Integrated Development Environments).
  • Familiarity with automated deployments (ex. Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment).
  • Familiarity with development paradigms (ex. DRY, encapsulation, Dependency Injection).
  • Familiarity with Agile best practices.
  • Conceptual understanding of REST APIs and integrations a plus.
  • Familiarity with Banking as a Service and Fintech is preferred but not required.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
