Responsibilities

As the Associate Director, Administrative Services (Assistant Dean) of Finance & Administration for the College of Law (CoL) this position is responsible for managing and overseeing Budgeting, Financial, Contracts & Grants, and HR administrative operations. Responsible for assisting in the strategic planning, management, administrative direction, and direct oversight of staff positions for the College of Law and its associated Centers and Institutes. Serves on the senior management team for the college, within the University Business Administrators (UBA) Program.

  • Oversees & monitors budget activities, provides fiscal & budget oversight for College funds including E&G, distance learning, discretionary, foundation & auxiliary accounts. Monitors the Colleges financial transactions such as requisitions, purchases orders, travel authorizations and expense report to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures. Works alongside CoL Enrollment Office to gather enrollment progress of J.D., J.M., and LL.M. programs. Responsible for determining CoL tuition revenue projections and recommending related budgetary adjustments. Reviews and approves contracts, requisitions, and other financial transactions and ensures funds are used in accordance with operating budgets. Develops, compiles and reports on financial and administrative data requested by the State, the University Controller, Budget, and the College of Law. Serves as Dean’s approver delegate for travel, contracts, and Foundation approvals.
  • Oversees the College of Law operations, including recruitment, personnel actions, payroll and termination procedures, HR transactions, and FACET reporting. Assumes responsibility for planning, development, and implementation of internal policies and procedures for these human resource functions. Determines the effective use of personnel, budgets, and materials. Provides guidance and direction to site staff to ensure the accurate and timely execution of transactions and other related business functions. Coordinates and manages the recruitment, hiring, training and evaluation of all assigned UBA staff.
  • Interprets, develops, and recommends policies and procedures to the Dean to ensure adherence to the policies of the university, college, federal, state, accepted accounting principles and business practices applied in an environment of sound internal controls. Identifies appropriate control activities so that the College’s unique risks are properly mitigated and recommends appropriate corrective actions if deficiencies are found. Interprets and communicates policies to faculty and staff, and implements university financial, human resources, business, and administrative best practices. Coordinates financial and administrative training as needed for College of Law employees.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships throughout the university and F&A community including the offices of the Controller, Budget, Procurement, and Human Resources to achieve College and departmental goals and objectives. Responsible for implementing initiatives and strategies to meet the college’s administrative goals and objectives. Participates in the development and implementation of the College’s Strategic Plan. Works directly the Dean and management team to accomplish special projects, functions, and reports providing support for the future success of the College.
