You will work closely with these businesses and stakeholders across government to provide expert advice on strategic, financial, policy, governance and commercial matters in order to ensure these government businesses operate efficiently, comply with relevant policies, and deliver outcomes that align with government objectives. Please click here to access the role description The Commercial Policy team within the Commercial Assets division is responsible for stewardship of the Commercial Policy Framework which applies to NSW government businesses, including the legislative framework under the State Owned Corporation Act 1989 that governs State Owned Corporations. The team develops, implements and manages relevant policies and guidelines and provides advice that aims to enhance performance, reporting and governance across government businesses and other commercial opportunities. You will be successful in this role if you are able to: Lead the design, stewardship and continuous improvement of whole of government policy frameworks (including the Commercial Policy Framework), ensuring they are strategically aligned, fit for purpose and consistently applied across government businesses. Provide authoritative, commercially astute advice on complex financial, regulatory, governance and legislative issues, exercising independent judgement to influence senior executives and decision‑makers. Drive strategic policy outcomes by researching and analysing complex and emerging issues, synthesising evidence, and developing robust options and recommendations that address systemic risks and opportunities. Prepare and deliver high impact briefings, submissions and presentations to Ministers, Secretaries and senior executives, clearly articulating risks, trade offs and implications for government. Build and sustain senior executive relationships across Treasury, state owned corporations and the broader public sector to lead consultation, negotiation and alignment on policy reform and implementation. Monitor and evaluate policy effectiveness, anticipate and manage strategic risks, and lead improvements to policy settings and business outcomes in line with government priorities.
