Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Associate Director Commodity Management and Sourcing manages global sourcing for Metal Fabrication with $700M spend. You’ll lead category strategy, optimize cost, and drive supplier performance.
Core responsibilities include developing costed BOMs, fostering cross-functional collaboration, managing vendor relationships, and leading a team of category managers. The role also focuses on cost optimization, innovation, and aligning sourcing with long-term product and technology strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages Global Metal Fabrication including supporting Tier 2 Components, category spend for approximately $ 700M.
  • Responsible for building short and long-term Meal Fabrication categories strategy to ensure operational excellence and efficiencies are met.
  • Establishes a cross-functional network and fosters collaboration with suppliers, wider supply chain organization, engineering, quality, and product management.
  • Owns the vendor performance data and reports metrics to leadership.
  • Develops and implements a category strategy which optimizes affordability, availability, agility, and innovation. Leverages understanding of similar industry, sourcing concepts, and Lean tools to ensure parts delivered on time at best cost and quality.
  • Manages external relationships with suppliers and assumes responsibility for all internal activities and decisions associated with category and suppliers, including contract negotiations, new products development, approved vendor list, RFX, re-sourcing, dual qualification, pricing changes, quality, and capacity.
  • Collaborate within the Global Strategic Sourcing team and across Product Management and Engineering to align on long-term strategy, technology roadmap, and risk mitigation.
  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge of respective global supply markets, competitors, and product innovations.
  • Continuously evaluate supplier category markets to evaluate new suppliers, report on market conditions, and understand trends related to cost drivers and global pricing, to ensure our strategic sourcing competitiveness.
  • Work with suppliers and internal teams to identify VA/VE opportunities and lead initiatives to drive cost-out, eliminate inefficiencies, and achieve supply surety.
  • Will work closely with Engineering, Quality, and NPI teams to enhance our global product generation process to ensure we incorporate our strategic supplier partnerships in our new product innovation process
  • Manage a team of global category team leaders.
  • Requires deep management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across multiple related departments.
