Job Purpose: The GSC Strategy team designs the supply chains to bring world class GSK medicines and vaccines to patients. The Strategy team is responsible for product and network strategy, including the delivery of Strategic programmes. The One Strategy Team has a clear ambition to be “Best in Industry Strategy team” of highly talented people. This role focuses on portfolio strategy and optimization within General Medicines. The Portfolio Optimization Manager is responsible for managing and enhancing the performance of the General Medicine portfolio. This role focuses on aligning supply chain capabilities with Commercial strategy to ensure product availability, profitability and compliance with medical and regulatory requirements. This role requires close collaboration with the cross functional Portfolio Optimization team including Commercial to make recommendations on product discontinuation and divestments. The Programme Manager uses standard project management tools to manage the portfolio Optimization process, provides portfolio management expertise, coaching and support to members of the Portfolio Optimization team. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with Commercial, Medical, Regulatory, and Supply Chain to review General Medicine brands and recommend optimizations. Facilitate the Quarterly Portfolio Optimisation board, the governance meeting where the SVP Gen Med Commercial makes decisions on brand discontinuations. Conduct data-driven portfolio reviews with Commercial, supply planning teams and Finance. Develop dashboards and reports for cross-functional decision-making. Serve as the primary contact for portfolio discussions between supply chain and commercial teams. Engage with functional teams to secure resources and mobilize the project team. Clarify roles and responsibilities within project teams and ensure compliance with GSK's decision-making structures. Establish and maintain portfolio governance processes, including performance tracking and reporting. Implement standard project management oversight, including planning, tracking, and reporting progress, risks, and issues. Facilitate project budget development and manage spending within budget. Identify and engage stakeholders, addressing their needs and concerns to support project updates and decisions. Provide accurate information to stakeholders and contribute to governance papers for project status and risk recommendations. Support and share best practices with the Strategy team. Promote continuous improvement in portfolio management practices. Experience & Skills Required: Proven experience of working with Pharma brands and understanding of pharmaceutical product lifecycles. Minimum 16 yrs of experience in a similar role. Good commercial acumen with the ability to balance profitability, operational efficiency and market/medical needs. Role requires some understanding of E2E Pharma supply chain design and operations. Awareness of the supply chain or business area and key priorities to inform day to day activities in support of programme execution. Demonstrated project leadership and management skills. Demonstrated effective communications skills both written & oral coupled with the ability to tailor to any one of a wide variety of audiences. Attention to detail; a focus on output, content & delivery to ensure that there is tangible progress. Agile and willingness to learn. Capacity to adapt priorities, organization and promote change management. Ability to work with tight deadlines.
