Description

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Associate Director of Payroll Services to lead and enhance our payroll operations. This role is critical in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for our organization. This position will coordinate payroll tax remittance and reporting as well as assist with payroll compliance for the department and university. This position will also assist with the management of the department, interpreting policy and making decisions as necessary, when Director is not available.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field with a minimum of 5 years payroll experience
  • Skills: Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • System: Experience with Oracle/PeopleSoft HCM.
  • Supervisory: 3 years experience of supervising a payroll team
  • Knowledge: 3 years experience with large-scale payroll systems and compliance with federal and multi-state regulations
  • Certifications: Certified Payroll Professional or similar certification is preferred

Responsibilities
  • Payroll Management: Work closely with the Director of Payroll Services in the management of the department and act as the Director in their absence. Assist in the development, interpretation and application of payroll policies and procedures. Provide guidance and mentorship to payroll staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Payroll Processing: Assist in the preparation of payroll for university employees, ensuring all transactions are accurate and timely.
  • Tax Filing: Oversee the preparation and filing of payroll taxes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Budgeting: Prepare, manage and report HR, Payroll and Center for Child Development budgets. Provide input during Budget preparation and expenditure decisions during the year.
  • Team Roles: Provide backup support for Payroll Coordinator and International Payroll Coordinator.
  • Supervise: This position will supervise the Payroll Records Technician and Payroll Accountant and may need to back up either of these positions.
    Work Schedule: Academic Year-8:00am-5:00pm; Summer & Breaks 7:30am-4:00pm
    Hiring Range: $79,764 - $106,000+ / year depending on experience
