Moderna leverages its mRNA platform to develop medicines with speed and flexibility. The Portfolio Reporting & Analytics team turns complex, cross-functional data into clear reports and user-friendly dashboards that deliver actionable insights, enabling stakeholders across Development—from study and program teams to senior leaders—to make confident, data-driven decisions and advance our R&D pipeline. We seek an Associate Director to support our mission and drive impact across the organization as part of this high-visibility team. This role is integral to delivering data-driven insights that provide visibility into operational plans and milestones, enable trade-off assessments, and empower decisions for clinical studies, projects, and programs. In this role, the incumbent will collaborate with diverse teams including Clinical Operations and related functions, leveraging subject matter expertise in clinical operations and clinical development, technical expertise and analytical capabilities to translate pressing business questions into intuitive dashboards and advanced analytic capabilities that deliver high-impact outcomes. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about leveraging data and technology to make meaningful contributions; they are a self-starter with a strong foundation in clinical drug development, analytics, and business communications. The successful candidate is eager to support development and delivery of analytics and insights that inform decisions for our large, interconnected portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to have a significant impact on the direction and success of initiatives within the Portfolio Reporting & Analytics team and the wider organization. The role is based in Cambridge, MA with an expectation of 70% of the time in office. Here’s What You’ll Do: Define, develop and own reporting, analytics, and insights roadmap supporting clinical study operational planning and forecasting through close partnership with business stakeholders and digital partners Regularly engage with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., clinical operations, clinical development, finance, strategy, regulatory, research, etc.) to understand business needs and inform priorities Lead ongoing evolution of existing reporting and analytics to provide visibility into pipeline updates at a study level to cross-functional leaders Develop fit-for purpose solutions that enable scenario modeling, support trade-off assessment and informed decision-making across Moderna’s portfolio Provide direction to software product leads and engineers to ensure our database architecture and software meet the needs of our future analytics vision Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications): Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, and/or PhD in life science, and/or computer science disciplines 6+ years of experience in data or analytics roles, preferably within biopharma or consulting/advisory services Subject matter expertise in drug development and clinical study operations Demonstrated ability to manage and analyze complex data Proficiency with business intelligence platforms (e.g., Tableau, Spotfire) Familiarity with translational databases (AWS Redshift) Track record of leading high-impact projects with cross-functional teams, including facilitating workshops for road-mapping, prioritization, and capability design Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications): Experience with gathering and translating business needs from stakeholders into technical requirements and impactful deliverables through close collaboration and partnership with business stakeholders and Digital partners Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to articulate complex data concepts and analytical insights to diverse audiences, including senior stakeholders Versatility and creativity to tackle problems through a variety of approaches (i.e., EQ and IQ) Comfort with ambiguity and an adaptable mindset; able to pivot based on evolving business needs and real-time data Experience leading change management initiatives, including training and creating business communications A commitment to learning the scientific and technical foundations of Moderna’s platform biotechnology and approach to developing medicines A proactive and collaborative approach, with the desire to contribute to a transformational and fast-paced organization Experience building models and forecasts from Excel to more complex AI techniques Ability to code (e.g., Python, R, SQL) Pay & Benefits At Moderna, we believe that when you feel your best, you can do your best work. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs.
