Description
Overview As a Campus Safety Director overseeing multiple Hyperscale data centers in Belgium and Netherlands, you will play a critical leadership role on some of Europe’s most ambitious and technically complex construction environments. You’ll guide the safety strategy for a multi‑phase, high‑voltage, hyperscale data center development, ensuring that world‑class safety performance is embedded across all contractors, partners, and project teams. This is a senior, high‑impact position where your decisions directly shape the integrity, efficiency, and operational readiness of the build. You will lead a high‑performing, diverse team within a collaborative environment that empowers you to take ownership, steer strategy, and leave a lasting mark on a marquee project. The Opportunity In This Role, You Will: Provide strategic HSE leadership across the entire data center lifecycle — from design to commissioning. Oversee identification and control of high‑risk activities, ensuring effective planning and coordination across all contractors. Drive continuous improvement of project‑wide safety systems and ensure controls are consistently applied. Maintain clear, executive‑level reporting on safety performance, trends, and critical risks. Evaluate site‑level HSE plans through active engagement with contractors, supervisors, and field teams. Act as a visible onsite safety leader, conducting audits, mentoring teams, and strengthening safety culture. Lead the development and implementation of the project’s overall safety strategy. Conduct independent audits across all disciplines and ensure timely, effective corrective actions. Ensure contractors meet all project and regulatory safety requirements, with strong oversight of high‑risk operations. Maintain and improve the project’s HSE management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001). Provide senior leadership in incident investigations, ensuring root‑cause analysis and system‑level corrective actions. About us We Would Love to Hear From You If You Have: 5+ years of construction safety leadership, including HSE team management — ideally in data centers, pharma, oil & gas, or mission‑critical/high‑voltage environments. Training in management and incident investigation methodologies. Strong contractor leadership experience, influencing design teams, GCs, trade partners, and client stakeholders. In‑depth knowledge of European HSE regulations and their application in high‑risk, fast‑paced projects. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage across all levels, from field teams to executives. Proficiency in digital tools, including Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems. A collaborative, relationship‑focused mindset aligned with openness and shared success. Interviews are conducted either in person or virtually (video required). Full site presence in Groningen.
