Job Description

This position is responsible for spearheading category and supplier profiling and managing risk against industry benchmarked criteria. The role involves the creation and maintenance of procurement category heat maps and supplier segmentation strategies, delivering performance & governance standards. The Associate Director is responsible for supporting stakeholder execution of governance strategies in addition to leading a team, ensuring their professional development aligns with organizational goals.

  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced category profiling strategies, including the creation of supply chain risk heatmaps.
  • Innovate in the segmentation of suppliers and the comprehensive risk assessment of procurement categories.
  • Identify emerging trends and vulnerabilities within categories, ensuring the organization is ahead in risk identification and mitigation strategies.
  • Implement risk management strategies and profiling techniques across procurement category, supplier stratification, and supplier performance strategies, ensuring alignment with the organization’s overall procurement strategy.
  • Ensure that risk assessment findings and mitigation strategies are effectively integrated into category and supplier management operations.
  • Work collaboratively with procurement teams to embed risk management practices in all procurement activities.
  • Regularly review and refine risk management processes and strategies based on changing market dynamics and internal performance metrics.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in category management and risk assessment, drawing insights from performance data and industry best practices.
  • Manage and coach risk managers, focusing on their development in strategic risk management, category profiling.
  • Set clear objectives and performance metrics for direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Encourage a collaborative team environment that values innovation, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach to risk management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Business Administration, Supply Chain Mgmt or related field desired. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, quality assurance, supplier management, audit, supply chain, or related business or operations function.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and managing senior internal business and functional leaders.
  • Proven expertise in category management and comprehensive understanding of category-specific risks.
  • Experience developing and implementing category risk profiles and mitigation strategies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
