ORGANIZATION AND POSITION OVERVIEW

Lilly recently announced a $4.5 billion investment to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry, a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. The first-ever facility of its kind, combining research and manufacturing in a single location, the Medicine Foundry will allow Lilly to further develop innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, while also reducing costs and environmental impact.
The Associate Director, Supply Chain will provide technical and business process expertise to the global supply chain business for the Lilly Medicine Foundry. These business processes span across the supply chain management towers of Planning, Buy & Make, Store & Handle, and Ship & Distribute.
The Associate Director, Supply Chain is responsible for business process and SAP training, consulting, high-level problem resolution, process improvements, innovation, project implementations, and tool and process governance. Our purpose centers on the use of SAP and global tools to make our Supply Chain business processes more innovative, productive, and control minded.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • An Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, or a related equivalent
  • A minimum of 8 years of industry experience with strong and broad business process knowledge and experiences in Supply Chain/Logistics
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with SAP-related projects, consulting, problem resolution, or power user experience
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately diagnose complex SAP and business problems, select or create alternative solutions, and effectively implement the solution
Responsibilities
  • Project Implementation
  • Lead complex cross-functional projects or large projects in the Ship & Distribute space, utilizing project management techniques as appropriate
  • Influence, design, and develop complex business processes and technical solutions to the global SAP environment in partnership with information technology and business leaders
  • Organize and conduct requirements gathering, design, testing, documentation, and training activities for projects impacting ship & distribute
  • Business Partnering and Innovation
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to understand pain points and effectively navigate internal processes
  • Network with external parties to create and maintain awareness of latest business and technical trends, issues, and opportunities; share learnings with Lilly peers and leaders
  • Leverage depth and breadth of global Finance and Supply Chain business and technical experience to propose innovations that improve productivity and controls
  • Process and Tool Governance
  • Govern the integrity of the global design, anticipating key business and environmental changes impacting global ship & distribute processes
  • Work with process owners, Global Supply Chain, Site Supply Chain Teams, and Business Quality Assurance to ensure the system is compliant to all external requirements and internal productivity targets
  • Partner with the Global Process Owner and PMO to prioritize projects. Provide ideas and input to influence the project list
  • Prioritize system changes for break/fixes and enhancements in cooperation with the Tech@Lilly and Data teams.
  • Identify opportunities to maximize technology usage and benefits within the V&C and SC SAP environment
  • Utilize data, analytics, and process mining tools and techniques to gain actionable business insights
  • Consulting and Problem Resolution
  • Provide complex consulting to team members and end-users related to ship & distribute questions and issues
  • Serve as consultant on complex, cross-functional issues with SAP Business Process Solutions and Tech@Lilly colleagues
  • Resolve business and technical issues impacting global process
  • Identify and act on incremental innovation opportunities based on consulting requests received
  • Understand master data and its impact on transactional processing and reporting; provide recommendations to issues, break/fixes, projects, and governance rules accordingly
  • Understand SAP role group design and security authorizations; engage security experts as needed to ensure sensitive information is protected
