JD degree and admitted to practice (preferably in California) 7+ years in a law firm and/or in-house directly drafting and negotiating agreements, including significant experience with transactions in the biotechnology industry Solid understanding of contracting in life science companies, including R&D and commercial contracts Able to serve as a strong business partner who can integrate legal advice with business acumen and sound judgment Broad interest in and understanding of the needs and goals of the wide range of stakeholders in business transactions Able to think creatively, work independently, find solutions and think strategically Exceptional writing, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to educate and support colleagues and clients at all levels Self-directed and proactive, comfortable executing on multiple projects independently and in collaboration with others Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy A strong background in life sciences, computer science, or related field Experience with the needs of clinical research and development, especially in diagnostics Experience leading the legal aspects of product co-development and co-marketing partnerships, or other complex, IP-heavy transactions
