This is an exciting permanent full-time role that would suit an associate level solicitor looking to grow in their career! You will have the opportunity to work across non contentious and contentious matters in the field of construction. You will be given exposure to a wide variety of clients in the public and private sector, including contractors, listed public companies, private companies as well as State and local government.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and deal with building design/construction files
  • Management of front and back end work (contentious and non contentious)
  • Maintain a strong line of communication with various stakeholders eg. principals, contractors, consultants
  • Handle disputes through arbitration, court, or adjudication in a professional and timely manner

What will help you succeed in this role?:

  • Ideally some experience working with contracts relating to commercial building and civil projects.
  • Previous experience working in the construction industries highly regarded (eg. private sector contractors, developers or design consultants or public sector such as State or local government)
  • Require prior knowledge about building and construction legislation (e.g QBCC Act, BIFA)
  • Knowledge and understanding of public sector procedures for tendering and contracts
  • Ability to manage junior lawyers
  • Deal with large quantities of documentation, and distil relevant information from the documentation
