Joining our established and expanding Nuclear team as an Associate EC&I Engineer, means engaging in a diverse and growing array of both international and UK-based projects. This role offers the chance to participate in multi-disciplinary projects at various stages of the lifecycle, from client consultancy to comprehensive turn-key solutions. Your responsibilities will extend to client interaction, crafting bids and proposals, and overseeing project delivery in line with AECOM’s standards for quality, safety, and environmental care.
We are looking for individuals who can apply their skills independently and as part of a team to deliver projects to the benefit of our Clients. Inherently the projects are multi-disciplinary and may be at any stage in the project life cycle. Our projects range from client consultancy support to complete turn-key solutions, often including electrical system design, building services and direct consultancy services.
As a Associate EC&I Engineer you will be reporting to the Head of EC&I Engineering in the Warrington office.
You will be responsible for delivery of EC&I design & engineering within that department, including the production of design documentation, design substantiation, as well as checking and approval of the work of other engineers & designers.
We are looking for individuals with the ability to lead, mentor and develop a team, who are capable of growing the EC&I business. Determination and drive to succeed is essential, as is the ability to develop strong networks with our clients and within our organisation.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

For this role we would expect you to be:

  • Qualified to a minimum of HNC level and preferably have a good relevant engineering degree.
  • Chartered Engineering or on your way to be.
  • Extensive relevant experience and be able to demonstrate sound technical knowledge and leadership experience.

Your previous experience will demonstrate competency in a number of the following areas:

  • Technical governance.
  • Experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Deliver project deliverables within timescales, budget constraints and quality expectations.
  • Fulfill all responsibilities for Health and Safety in Design.
  • Manage the financial & technical aspects of projects.
  • Project cost, time control and reporting.
  • Liaison with clients, suppliers and contractors.
  • Assisting in recruitment activities.
  • Developing EC&I capability and growing the business.
  • Nuclear decommissioning.
  • Nuclear new build.
  • Client industry design gates.
  • An appreciation of mechanical / civil and process systems and the aptitude work within a multi-disciplinary team.

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Team management and Leadership.
  • Project management skills.
  • Experience of commissioning electrical and control systems.
  • Experience of maintaining electrical and control systems.
  • Knowledge of safety standards (IEC 61508, 61511, 61513).
  • Safety Instrumented Systems substantiation.
  • Availability, Reliability and Maintainability.
  • Fault trees, FMEA, HAZOP knowledge.
  • Medium / High Voltage Electrical Distribution Design.
    Travel to other UK company sites and some international travel may be necessary as part of the role.
