Job Summary:
Our Mission
The J. Paul Getty Museum seeks to inspire curiosity about, and enjoyment and understanding of, the visual arts by collecting, conserving, exhibiting, and interpreting works of art of outstanding quality and historical importance and is one of four programs of the J. Paul Getty Trust. The Museum operates two sites, the Getty Villa in Malibu, which exhibits its collection of Greek and Roman antiquities, and the Getty Center in Brentwood, which displays its collections of European art: Medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts, paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, drawings to 1900, and photography to the present day (including non-European works). The Museum mounts approximately 25 temporary exhibitions a year across its two sites; maintains an annual permanent gallery improvement program and offers wide-ranging and ambitious programming for its visitors.

Responsibilities
  • With moderate oversight, this position is responsible for implementing and managing K12 teacher programs and projects to foster inclusive, engaging, and creative experiences with art, such as in-person and virtual professional development programs and events; digital learning resources for teachers and students; and teacher wellness programming at both the Getty Center and Getty Villa sites.
  • Works toward the accomplishment of program goals and objectives using museum engagement strategies and culturally relevant teaching strategies to meet the needs of K12 teachers. Also serves as a strategic thought partner in the development of strategies to accomplish these goals and objectives.
  • Collaborates on the planning and creation of content for curriculum resources, promotional materials, and other program/project materials.
  • Uses project management strategies and proactive communication skills to develop, implement, and assess programs, and coordinate all aspects of programs and projects such as tracking budgets, coordinating program and project logistics on-site and online, managing project schedules, and maintaining materials inventories.
  • Contributes to Getty’s marketing strategy as it relates to K12 teachers and administrators.
  • Develops relationships, communicates, and collaborates with internal and external experts, including teachers, K12 school administrators, museum educators, and content experts such as curators.
  • Teaches with the collection and serves as a resource for teaching staff.
  • Serves as lead facilitator and teacher at teacher professional development programs.
  • Negotiates, contracts and liaises with external experts and teachers, providing direction and monitoring of external vendors according to established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
  • Provides leadership to project staff and/or work group members.
  • Serves on collaborative project teams to advise and develop current and future Education Department initiatives
