This position is in-person. Toyon Research Corporation is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to join our Advanced Concepts flight test team within the Aerospace Systems Group. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in electrical engineering principles with the ability to take ideas from concept through design, build, test, and delivery. This role is focused on prototype mixed-signal embedded hardware and offers the opportunity to contribute across all phases of product development in a highly collaborative environment. Responsibilities Perform system analysis, develop architectures, and create detailed electrical designs of advanced avionics and aerospace systems Design and build mixed-signal and embedded system circuits and custom PCBAs Drive hardware development from initial concept through fabrication, integration, and delivery Troubleshoot and resolve complex or unusual engineering challenges under tight timelines Collaborate across disciplines on multi-project teams Prepare technical material for design reviews Work effectively under evolving requirements in a fast-paced prototyping environment Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering Solid understanding EE principles including: -Analog and digital circuit design -Power distribution and regulation -Signal integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC mitigation -Component selection, derating, and tolerance analysis Proficiency with EE CAD and simulation tools (Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, SPICE, etc.) Familiarity with scripting or analysis tools (Python + SciPy, MATLAB, etc.) Ability to interpret and apply industry standards and specifications (IPC-2221/610, MIL-STD-461, DO-160, etc.) Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting Preferred Qualifications Strong understanding of general EE principles including: -Electrical safety standards (UL, CE, IPC, MIL-STD) -ESD handling and design practices Experience with RF circuit design and RF telemetry systems Familiarity with communication protocols such as RS-232, ARINC, low-voltage TTL, Ethernet, and MIL-STD-1553 (or 1773) Experience with power electronics design (DC-DC converters, battery systems, motor drives) Experience with FPGA development and integration Experience supporting environmental testing (thermal, vibration, EMI) and hardware qualification The annual pay range for the Electrical Engineer position is $100,000 to $130,000. The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, at a full time level of effort, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives.
