Scope The Financial Restructuring Group is expanding and we are looking for an Associate to be based in our Sydney office. Associates work specifically with the group, assisting with a variety of transactions, including creditor- and debtor-side restructurings and distressed mergers & acquisitions. In particular, we are looking for an Associate to work closely with senior-level bankers to expand our capital solutions and market advisory offering in Australia supported by our global platform. You will be building key relationships across the capital markets and providing strategic financial advice on innovative, tailored and value-enhancing capital solutions that support the long-term success of a diverse range of corporate clients. Responsibilities The group offers a unique opportunity for Associates to work on projects that provide exposure to various financial advisory and investment banking products and industries. These services include: Advising on debt and equity raisings in the context of complex, stressed and distressed situations Advising companies and stakeholders in stressed and distressed situations, including informal and formal restructuring transactions Advising on distressed M&A transactions Participating in complex negotiations on behalf of our clients Associates are typically members of deal teams comprising at least one managing director, director or vice president, associate and financial analyst. The following qualifications are required: Strong academic track record Genuine interest in Capital Markets, Financial Restructuring and/or in working on complex and large financial transactions 4+ years’ experience within Financial Restructuring, Leveraged Finance, Private Credit, Insolvency, or Banking & Finance Law Strong understanding of valuation theory, methodologies and applications Comprehension of key debt related components and structures Strong quantitative, financial and analytical skills, commensurate with experience Strong LBO and DCF modelling skills, commensurate with experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Exceptional strong work ethic The candidate must be motivated and have the ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff in a rapidly changing, demanding, but ultimately rewarding environment.
