Job Description:
Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs.
Teach 18 credit hours (in-person day and evening classes as well as synchronous or asynchronous online modalities) during the Spring 2026 semester and maintain 10 office hours per week. Participate in departmental administrative responsibilities. Teaching assignments will include classes on the main campus and/or at our off-site centers and may include classes with dual-enrolled students in Early College programs, the CTE Academy, and/or the Governor’s STEM Academy. Perform other assigned duties and departmental activities as required to provide student support and positively impact student success. Position is temporary and ends May 15, 2026.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a master’s degree in biological/life sciences or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in biological/life sciences. Proficiency and willingness to teach community college level biology courses as offered across the college’s degree programs. Proficiency in and willingness to incorporate new and emerging pedagogies in the classroom.Additional Considerations:
Prior teaching experience in the community college environment along with teaching of dual-enrolled students highly preferred.
