You’ll join the largest dedicated investment funds team in Jersey, helping us manage significant projects for our clients and provide excellent levels of service coupled with deep regulatory and market insight.

ABOUT YOU - ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant academic and professional qualifications, preferably gained within a common law jurisdiction.
  • A high level of post qualification knowledge gained in the practice of corporate, business & finance, financial services, regulatory, insolvency, restructuring, intellectual property and funds law and regulation.
  • Proven ability to grasp complex legal information in order to provide sound legal advice, tailored to the client’s commercial objectives, and the ability to draft a variety of legal documents.
  • The willingness to develop existing skills and update legal knowledge by way of additional training.
  • Effective organisation and communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels and work autonomously.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • obtain clear instructions from clients and intermediaries, provide legal advice and prepare relevant documentation;
  • review and provide comments on documentation provided by third parties;
  • manage your own matters and lead transaction-appropriate teams of lawyers and support staff to deliver the highest level of service to clients and intermediaries;
  • provide guidance and assistance to junior fee earners, regularly reviewing their progress and addressing any issues of concern, supporting the development and progression of all team members;
  • act as the client contact point on any allocated matter;
  • ensure administrative tasks are completed on each matter in accordance with required internal procedures (e.g. conflict searches, issue of terms and conditions and engagement letters, due diligence, matter opening, time recording, billing, lock-up management etc.);
  • organise workload and ensure clear communications with partners, clients and intermediaries around timing and delivery of advice;
  • manage and carry out discrete tasks thoroughly and efficiently, to the required quality standard and within agreed timeframes;
  • take responsibility for own continuous professional development, meeting local CPD requirements; and
  • perform any other duties or responsibilities as may be required from time to time in context with the job and in relation to the services provided by Mourant.
