Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated lawyer to join our commercial litigation and employment law practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling complex legal matters, providing strategic advice, and representing clients in court. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on complex cases and contribute to our firm’s success. You can expect to meaningfully participate in cases, including at attendances, cross-examinations, and discoveries,

Responsibilities:

  • Handle a diverse caseload of commercial litigation and employment law matters.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motion materials, and legal correspondence.
  • Represent clients in hearings, discoveries, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients on a wide range of issues, with consideration to business strategies and risk.
  • Work with colleagues to develop litigation strategies crafted with client objectives in mind.
  • Stay up to date on developments in the law on the firm’s key practice areas.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Annual billable target: 1,200 hours.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; moot or clinical experience preferred.
  • Admitted to practice law in Ontario.
  • 1-3 years of experience in litigation with an emphasis on commercial litigation and employment law.
  • Excellent analytical, research and writing skills.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy/negotiation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary of $110,000 - $130,000, commensurate with experience.
